Budget retail giant Poundland, which operates the Pep&Co clothing and homewares brand within its store network, is to open its largest UK flagship in Stockton-on-Tees next week. It becomes Poundland’s second store in the town, in additional to its two-year-old Castlegate shopping centre outlet.

The 26 February opening comes just days after launching its previously largest store in Nottingham. And like Nottingham, a big feature of the new Teesside Park store will be a Pep&Co department.
The latest Poundland will measure 19,000 sq ft, over three times the size of an average 6,000 sq ft store, set over two floors. And the store features a major Pep&Co department, taking over the 5,500 sq ft mezzanine floor, featuring its new spring fashion and homewares ranges.
Meanwhile, the new store will also feature a wider-than-usual range of health & beauty products, and as in Nottingham, it will include a dedicated Rimmel cosmetics display.
As an added incentive for shoppers, the store will also include a food-to-go area, including takeaway coffee from a Lavazza self-serve bar, and snacks and pastries from the Poundbakery.
Opening a second megastore so quickly after the Nottingham branch, underlines the company’s ambitions in UK retail and how it wants to carve out even larger share of the fashion market in which it has already been growing fast in recent years.
