Italian sneaker brand Golden Goose and Coronet are teaming up to launch Yatay, the first made-in-Italy co-action platform for sustainable innovation.
Named after a particular species of palm (Butia Yatay), which is a palindrome that symbolizes the principle of circularity, the platform launches with the ultimate goal to create positive change throughout its innovation journey, from beginning to end.
The co-action between Golden Goose’s knowledge of its consumer and Coronet’s cutting-edge innovation is a key element to the impactful partnership, which will create innovations, provide positive social and economic impact, all while maintaining the lowest environmental footprint.
As part of its first innovation, Golden Goose has taken its first step under the ‘We Innovate’ driver of its Forward Agenda to launch Yatay Model 1B – a sneaker which combines craftsmanship, sustainable innovation and vision.
The gender-neutral sneaker is made of Yatay B, a bio-based material derived from vegetable sources and components including recycled polyester and biodegradable rubber. The use of Yatay B reduces CO2 emissions by 90% and water usage by 65% compared to leather. The style is also entirely made in Italy and crafted with animal-free materials.
