All of Armenia’s athletes who had reached the semifinals have advanced to the finals and will compete for gold medals at the U23 European Boxing Championships being held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Rudolf Garboyan (51 kg), Ruslan Aslikyan (57 kg), Artur Sahakyan (60 kg), and Harutyun Hakobkokhyan (67 kg) also have repeated the success of Elida Kocharyan (60 kg), the Boxing Federation of Armenia informs on Facebook.
In the semifinals, Rudolf Garboyan defeated his Irish opponent, reigning European champion Ruslan Aslikyan beat his Turkish challenger in a persistent bout, Artur Sahakyan defeated his English opponent—also in a persistent fight, and Harutyun Hakobkokhyan beat his Bulgarian challenger.
Earlier, Elida Kocharyan had defeated her Latvian opponent in the girls’ competition and will defend her title, like Ruslan Aslikyan.
