London commercial property company Sloane Stanley has made good use of letting empty retail units on a temporary basis. Its latest such deal is with speciality retail brand Nearly New Cashmere Co, enabling the business to open a pop-up store on the King’s Road, Chelsea, it wouldn’t normally be able to afford.

The Yorkshire-based upcycled cashmere retailer, which claims to “rescue and restore” thousands of discarded 100% cashmere items annually, has just opened at 340 King’s Road until the end of March.

The 1,178 sq ft space features a variety of vintage and designer menswear, womenswear, childrenswear and accessories, “handpicked to ensure the best possible quality”.

Hannah Grievson, Property Director at Sloane Stanley, said: Partnering with small, creative businesses has always provided us with an opportunity to share the culture of our fantastic community and, in the case of brands such as Nearly New Cashmere Co, highlight the importance of sustainability and protecting our planet.

Pop-up stores can play an important role in helping brands present an affordable physical voice, especially for new retailers, while allowing property owners to fill vacant spaces that would otherwise be boarded up.
