Robin Kay, founder and until now director of the event, will soon be leaving her managerial position to take on a role in consulting. IMG, who through its Canadian subsidiary has worked with the event since 2010, has said that it will develop the fashion week in its domestic market – so as to remain “locally relevant” – and will focus on the quality of its offerings so as to attract more visitors and buyers from overseas.
Toronto joins Istanbul, New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Australia, Mubla, Miami, Moscow and London amongst the growing ranks of IMG-organised fashion weeks.

Less than a month after announcing that it had acquired Istanbul’s fashion week, the IMG Fashion group has also taken on Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week. The event was created in 1999 at the same time as the FDCC (Fashion Design Council of Canada).
