L'Oréal Paris has named British-born makeup artist Val Garland Global Make-up Director. The worldwide beauty giant's makeup brand has selected one of the most visible makeup artists of the moment to bring her talent to the product innovation division and to helm the brand's creative direction.
In a video posted on both her own Instagram and that of L'Oréal Paris, Garland commented that she "[likes] spontaneity, disruption, mixing things together and seeing what comes out."
Garland started her career backstage for the catwalks of numerous luxury labels, later working for big-name publications in the fashion media. She has also served as a consultant to Yves Saint Laurent Beauty.
The French group L'Oréal got off to off to a good start in 2025, posting a 7.5% increase in sales for the first quarter at 7.04 billion euros.
